Lemon Detox Diet

Anyone who has ever struggled with weight loss can understand the yearning for a diet capable of producing significant results. Unfortunately, many diets offer the promise of substantial weight loss, but far too often fall short of the desired effects. For many, the lemon detox diet has become a viable resource for rapid, healthy weight loss.

Touted by the rich and famous for its miraculous weight loss performance, lemon detox diets have been used by celebrities like Beyonce Knowles. After losing a reported 20 pounds, Knowles became an avid endorser of the patented “Lemon Detox Diet” from the Pure Natural Healthy Company. While the company claims ownership of the product, consumers have found that they can create their own lemon detox diet from home.

Why Does the Lemon Detox Diet Work?

Having tried numerous sensational diets with little to no success, many dieters may question the validity of claims made by those who have used lemon detox diets. Inundated by fad diets, miracle pills, and guaranteed weight loss programs in the media; individuals wonder what makes lemon detox unique or special from so many other fad diets on the market.

Lemons: Through the centuries, lemons have been known for their healing abilities in the human body. Used as a mid 1700’s scurvy cure and by the Asians as an antiseptic; lemons contain high amounts of Vitamin C, calcium, and potassium. While great in nutrients, lemons contain a limited amount of calories; approximately 100 calories per whole lemon.

Lemons are acidic by nature and make for an excellent cleanser in both household cleaners and the human body. For the lemon detox diet, lemons help to cleanse the body through the process of oxidation; turning proteins, fats, and carbohydrates into water and carbon dioxide.

Maple Syrup: Since the times of the Algonquin Indians, Maple syrup has been a source of high nutritional content and a great energy source. While concentrated with sugar straight from the tree, Maple syrup does not have an initial sweet taste. In order for sweetness to develop, the syrup must be boiled down to its purest form.
Once the boiling process is finished, Maple syrup is a pure, sweet concentrate with no preservatives. This helps in the drinkability of the lemon detox diet.

Cayenne Pepper or Powdered Ginger: Both ingredients serve as digestive metabolic aid in the lemon detox diet. While cayenne peppers are notorious for their heat level, they provide a valuable metabolic increase in the stomach; prompting amplified emissions of digestive enzymes.

Ginger is beneficial for many reasons due to compounds found in the herb. Deemed excellent for its antibacterial characteristics and as an intestinal enzyme booster, Ginger or Ginger root helps to cleanse the digestive tract by moving foods through more quickly.

Water: Obviously, water is a compound vital to survival. Without water, metabolic functions would cease to operate and dehydration would become life threatening. Most people do not consume an adequate amount of water for proper body functions. With the lemon detox diet, water is the main ingredient.

Are there any dangers to the lemon detox diet?

Common concerns stemming from the diet include:

  • Too little protein consumption may cause muscle loss
  • Possible initiation of the body’s starvation mode
  • Inadequate calorie intake for proper nutrition

As with all diets, there are always safety concerns. Individuals choosing to take lemon detox should first talk with their doctor about any current health risks they may have and to determine if the lemon detox diet is right for their situation.
